Run DxDiag

Create a system report that shows your hardware.

You will generate a file called dxdiag.txt. This file contains information about your computer, such as: You will use this file in the next step.

Step 1 - Open the Run box

  1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard
  2. A small window will appear

Step 2 - Start DxDiag

Type:

dxdiag

Then press Enter.

Step 3 - Wait for it to load

The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will open.

If asked about checking drivers, click Yes.

Wait a few seconds for it to finish loading.

Step 4 - Save the report

  1. Click "Save All Information"
  2. Choose a location:
    • Desktop (recommended)
    • or Downloads
  3. Click Save

This creates a file called:

dxdiag.txt

Important

Do not rename the file.

Keep it somewhere easy to find.

You will upload it in the next step.

What happens next

You will upload this file to the Windows to Linux Advisor.

It will recommend the best Linux version for your computer.
